Re: Bristlenose / Fancy Plecs
I think most plecos r good community members, they never really bother fish other than catfish, even then they are pretty tolerant to each other, other than competing for food they get on pretty well. there must be about 400 different L numbers to choose from. It depends on what u like, how big and how much your willing to pay. we got about 30 L numbers now and love them all lol

These are what I like:
L014 L018 L024 L027 Xingu L027C L046 L047 L081 L085 L121 L129 L142 L144(albino/lemon/SUPER RED) L161 L168 L173 L200 L202 L204 L211 L235 L236 L250 L257 L266 L269 L270 L271 L273 L305 L306 L307 L340 L368 L374 L397 L600
This is based on looking at images - if anything is more than 10" in length its not a good idea.

Re: Bristlenose / Fancy Plecs
Id just read up on the ones you like most of them would be ok some are very expensive so it all depends on what suits u best,
Might be worth looking into what would suit your tank. Also Id look into there personality as they are all different.
L129 - That we have u never see just hides in bogwood all the time and eats alot of it for such a small pleco. grows upto about 3.5" i think
L014 - Is a very nice choice out and about alot very nice colour and pattern, hardy, considered one of tyhe best beginner plecos grows upto 10"
L018 is golden nugget i think this is the type we have grows to around 6" very slow growing beautiful fish cost us £25 but they can live upto 25 years thats £1 a year worth every penny
L046 is a zebra and needs very good water conditions very expensive i think £70 @ 1" is the cheapest i seen
L081 is a golden nugget but can be even bigger about 12" you can get these but dont reach this size in captivity spots are smaller and closer.
L144 :troll: they just look like albinos with blue/black eyes might be a good choice to start with and pretty cheap and common for a L number you can also get long fins, we have 4 young trios/pairs long fin/normal in our tanks that will sell on when bigger. Albinos r brown bristlenoses these are not L numbers. (UPDATE NEW INFO) See L144 topic https://theaquarium.forumotion.co.uk/t1158-ancistrus-l144-lemon-bristlenose#11049
L168 dont grow too big i think around 3" maybes a little more know as chamilions always changing colour and pattern. look beautiful when 'banded'. i have a young group of wc ill be looking to breed when older. only keep 1 male in a group i think the alpha male killed the other 2 males in our group.
L173 im not 100% sure about this one. but i think similar fish sell for £1000s in japan
L200 - BRIGHT GREEN!! just got a pair of these today they glow green!! i think they grow upto 7" in captivity
L270 - chocolate zebra similar pattern to l129 but wider lines and a better looking fish, doesn't hide all day either. grow to around 5", got told these are getting quite rare.
L340 mega clown i here these can be vicios to each other grow t about 3"

Re: Bristlenose / Fancy Plecs
hi chris just one bone of contention the L144 are lemons not albinos mate
the albinos are pink eyed
other than that the list seems like the most comprehensive that i have seen in response to a question so far

Re: Bristlenose / Fancy Plecs
Been to pet mania today for a butchers .... picked up a couple of kribs whilst I was there.
They have some decent pleco's in stock with some more due in tomorrow. They have some L333 which are tiny (less than an inch) £25 each, I was a lil tempted but couldn't justify it. They also had some larger L204's (about 2-3inch) which again were £25 each. Does this sound to be priced right or is it typical pet mania?

Re: Bristlenose / Fancy Plecs
Id personally keep a look out on aquarist classifieds mate as l numbers from most shops are way overpriced. Also a lot of plecs don't travel too well and can be hard to acclimatise and feed when moved, only ever buy when you can look at their bellies and see they are nice and round. Clarkies on here was getting some different l numbers in and I think he kept them for a couple of weeks to acclimatise aswell taking the risk out for the buyer. He had some gold nuggets for about £20 that I was tempted by lol.

Re: Bristlenose / Fancy Plecs
Was quoted £20-30 by pet mania for a nugget as they have them coming in tomorrow. Was really tempted to reserve one but then thought i was been diddled. Been emailing Clarkie today about stuff, really fancy some L200's the more I read and look at them the more I want them. Am I ok to come over tomorrow night after work and pick some B/N up?
