Losing fish

Hi guys having a mare with my tank ok here it goes,for the last month or so Ive been loosing at least 1 fish a week so I put this down to where I was getting my fish,so I thought I'd do water tests everyone one dies just to see and every time my results are normal.now the last week or so has been even worst than normal I've lost 2 Bolivian rams clown loach guppie and I've just lost my male krib(as some of u knew last week they laid then I lost the eggs).like I said all waters are bang on,I do weekly 10% water changes,there's been no air freshness near the tank,and the fish them selves don't show any thing,the only thing I noticed with the krib was that wasn't coming out of his cave wich I just put down to the loss of eggs but the others just flake out.im starting to think bacterial and I'm waiting at this moment for timmy to bring some meds for me,any help wouldn't go a miss if u can think of anything

I went through this for a while....I based it down to stocking up too quickly. I then stopped buying fish and neglected the tank for a few weeks then completed a 50% water change. Things have been fine since and think i've lost 2 fish in 3month.

What filter you using? Are you topping it up with any booster solutions?

If I was you mate, I wouldn't use treatment unless I new what I was treating. Just up your water change to say 30% every two days fo a couple of weeks, checking your stats each time.
Were these fish established or new?

When you do your water test, did you teat for Nitrite? You can still have really high nitrite levels even though ammonia levels are nil.
I would check for nitrite as a matter of urgency, do some water changes and as D13h4RD says don't treat until you know what the problem is.
My guss would be nitrite.

Yeah check that all the time too ned,just can't understand what's going on with them

It varyed tony had guppie for a while as the rams but the loach and krib had a few weeks

Right mate, thought it might be new fish, which can sometimes get toxic shock, with the different water perameters, Do a full stats check ammonia,nitrate,nitrite, ph. Don't forget some fish require slightly different parameters and it may be just that some fish just can't cope with the diferance, were others can adapt

It could be anything based on what u told us. it might help if you let us know what all tests are showing, what fish u have, set up, filteration, and fish behavior.

Id only treat the tank if u know exactly what is wrong as this can cause more problems. I learnt this the hard way a few months ago. kept treating the tank with different treatments and caused other illnessess on the fish lost about 12 fish maybes more.

What treatment has timmy got that u where going to use?. I here timmys been losing fish too?.

As D Hard said water changes daily with good water can be better than any meds, most tropical fish naturally live in rivers and streams where they get a constant flow of fresh water.

hi remember the golden rule we are water keepers 1st fishkeepers 2nd always wash filter media in tank water also id run quality carbon for a few weeks if problems persist empty tank fill with clean water add a high level of salt for 3-5 days empty and give it a good rinse out set up again keep fish you already have in a suitable container with filter to keep filter going [before adding filter give it a good rinse in old tank water.also any airbourne pollutants ie hair spray deodarants fly spray can be lethal to fish never use in the same room.
mate had a simillar problem when he got a tank given and just rinsed it out quickly he empty tank and added the salt [table salt fine] 5 months on perfect

Hi guy sorry I haven t got back to ya but I had a proper bee in my bonnet,any ways lost a lot of fish so I carried on with the treatment,anyways glad to report no more loss of fish and they had there last bit today so going to do a big water change tomorrow and clean inside the tank,so fingers crossed that the end of that
