Angelfish Bright blood red eyes

Post by Guest on 1/7/2012, 10:20

Hi last night we re-scaped our 450L tank and moved the angels from this tank to the 200L,

Shortly the transfer after i noticed one of the angelfish i bought from paddock farm as leopard blue angels had bright blood red eyes that really stood out, this morning i noticed one of the singapore blues from angelchris had gone the same.

A little curious and worried i had to google it, apparently this is not a bad thing but is good.

Heres a answer i found off 'yahoo answers:Most wild angelfish have red eyes, and, in tank-raised strains, bright, blood-red eyes are considered an extremely desirable characteristic. It is not a sign of illness or injury (if the eyes otherwise seem normal). Angelfish with red eyes are usually regarded as the most wers'attractive, and earn extra points in shows for this trait.

also noticed the big cobra is going the same and the apisto cacatoides has gone very bright too!!

So if your angelfish have bright blood red eyes keep doing what your doing!!

well done chris...obviously you have got the balance spot on....no need to change a thing...just keep doing what your doing...it seems to be working very well !!...long time since ive kept angels but its a line i might consider going back down....ive been thinking of what to do since i spent 2 or 3 yrs breeding kribs...do i go down the straight forward community route for a while or go into 1 species breeding and rearing again....discus...angels....corys...malawis...even killi have been thought about....so many choices time is needed and research to be done before desision is made !

ps..any chance of a few pics ??

i hated angels only a few months back now i love them they really add something to the middle of the tank they ways they drift about and have a lot of character,

I used to have bleeding heart tetra, odessa barbs and rainbows they just darted about like loonies now i gone south-american best thing i done!
As for breeding i think my angels are still young but with all the food and daily water changes they are growing rapidly!

ill try getting some decent pics now...
