live ants wanted for daughters ant farm!
we will collect and catch if required.
no idea where to get these from lol!
some silly relative went & bought her an ant farm without any ants for her birthday. my house is becoming a bug collectors dream...with the butterly larva and the woodlice collection...

I managed to get some online a few years ago but they cost a fair bit.

Are you on facebook? If I were you I'd ask Coast to Coast Exotics, they're in Darlington and have a page on there. They can get hold of loads of insects etc, they're probably cheap cos I imagine they're sold as food for other animals, rather than pets.

If not, maybe google it but you'll probably pay a premium.

Also, do you have one of those blue gel ant farms? Cos if you do don't waste your time, the ants cant dig into it lol. I bought one a few years ago and all they did was sit on the surface and try and chew at it. Eventually they died.

Nah it's not the blue gel one. It's the ant sphere One. Lots of red balls connected with tubes & we put grass soil etc in them. Have found a place online that will free post me 40-50 ants for a fiver. Might try it as all female workers. Guaranteed not to bite. Need them a min if 3mm or they can escape thru air holes.
Gotta admit not too impressed with the silly person who bought this for a 4yr old. But now she has seen it she must have it set up ASAP!

That's a very unusual present to buy somebody but I would imagine very interesting glad you managed to get your ant's you won't have any room left to put all these thing's before long deb lol

I know what u mean. Caterpillars have cocooned now so won't be long for them now!

Thanks hin. Bought some online. Was a rip off supposed to be 50 but doubt I got 20.
Anyway kids ignored them after day 3
Cat fell asleep on pipes and think some escaped.
Am now left with this set up & no clue what to do with it!
