Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
lost another female siamese today. the one i had the fry from.
i cant be sure why as she was fit and healthy. took a close look at her yesterday but nothing wrong i could see
after loosing the crown i added on sat from AA i cant help but wonder if this has caused the problem. i wish i had the space to be able to quarantine but i dont so no point beating myself up about that. it does make me wonder tho that 2 of us on here bought from there and started to suffer rapid losses.
really hope i dont loose my male. he is still in floater tank in community tank. have 2 females in the tank but dont want to release him just in case. neither female is anywhere near breeding.
can anyone offer any advice? no obvious signs of anything wrong and she was feeding well this morn and swimming fine.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
forgot to say tank readings are ok. even my clown loaches are active.
normally they are the first to show problems as they are so sensitive. they are playing at the moment.
gonna do water changes just in case

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
have you still got your male?
i am out of ideas. cant figure out what i need to treat for if anything.
am currently just coming home from work to count how many dead. whats harder still is its not just the siamese now.
if its affecting the guppys seems pretty likely its gonna affect my big clown loaches. those are worth over £20-£30 each due to the size.such characters too.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
im not sure how long they are dead by the time i get home. the blue female wasnt white. darker rather than white. but then she was dark to start with.
the white female-well cant tell as she was so pale.
the grey/silver female had slight cloudiness to her body but nothing i would class as white really. a lightening of normal colour tho.
the guppies were pale yellow in colour so really couldnt tell much from them.
did yours go white?

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
no def not patches. just a general lighter body colour. but then i was looking at the body in my hand rather then the live fish in the aquarium under tank lights. may not have been much different than normal.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
i have to be very careful what i can use due to the clowns. think i will google more info first rather than risk killing more fish.
will wait till tomorrow and do another water change. did over 30% yesterday.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
hope so hun. i cant put my finger on whats wrong.
glad you still have your male tho. its giving me hope re mine!
have let him out of the floater tank. if its something in the water he will catch it anway. and there are no females ready to mate for him to get too rough with anyway.
if he is gonna go at least he wont be cooped up beforehand.
maybe the guppies were just old. who knows. will have to watch the others closely along with the siamese.

i know hes just a red veil but hes my baby. such a rich solid red looks like velvet. and hes bulked up loads lately, lovely deep chest and lots of weight. maybe that will give him a good chance of beating whatever it is.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
the only thing i can think is that its come in with your new fish and effected the rest as for what it is im stuck i tried to see if there was anything on the net but carnt find anything so it could be a viral diesase that they picked up and carried it over like a carrier they dont always die straight away or show any signs
and seen as we dont know what it is then you carnt medicate against it

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
That's what my gut is telling me. I may be out of practice but I rarely loose fish. I googled my eyes out over this one. Found some scary stuff like TB but nothing I can be sure of. Hopefully its something restricted to Betta.
Buggered up my plans for the fry tank. It's starting to smell a bit and feel I should do partial water change but can't use water from main tank now or may as well wave gbye to babies.
Gonna buy a new net and disinfect floater tanks before they get used in there again. Do you think I could use bleach in 25% mix? Well rinsed of course? Or what else can I use to disinfect with?
Sorry lorna & Marty but I won't be buying from AA again. Maybe you should consider carefully too as sounds like it may be something similar which caused your terrible losses. I know he's a friend but this is too hard to risk again xxx

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
have you phoned a a and asked him has he had any problems with his fighters as im sure if you talked to him and took sample of water down he would check it front of you if you had no problems with it he would of replaced them as for lornas i know what happened to them but thanks for the advice to steer clear of a a i wont accusse them unless i had all the facts aas it is there livelihood

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
No I don't mean to accuse them. But been there twice and lost fish both times. So can't bring myself to risk it. Did think about doing that but it's cheaper to buy my own kits. Costs me£10 in bus fair as have kids too. The crown was lovely but worked out at £13 if u count travel. Afterwards occurred to me could have poss got online. Never can tell with any purchase tho.
I just want to get my fish better and start over again now.
