I was doing a bit of reading up and I came across the fact that you can use grease proof paper but I am not sure how that will work because of the light thing really will have to read up on that one or I am sure someone will have a solution for us.

Oh she is out. That's why I had to remove the lid and risk cooling the eggs. He has built the nest inches above the heater and it took seconds to remove her so hopefully should be ok.
Still grinning like a loon tho Lorna

No idea what day I am on now but I know the eggs should be 2days old now. When do I need to remove the male? He is a bugger for eating the guppy fry.....

Lol no I don't have guppy in there! I meant he is a bugger for chasing and eating any fry he sees.
Go home from work & fry is free swimming. Hope they won't need to eat for few days as cultures not ready!!!

youll see him take the fry in his mouth if any escape and spit them back at the nest
which is hilarious to watch cos theres hundreds of fry eventually he gives up and rounds them up like a sheep dog

well as expected its not looking too good.
have been struggling to do water changes without detroying the bubble nest that was keeping them safe. also i didnt expect things to move so quickly so didnt have my fry food ready to go.
only a few wrigglers left Crying or Very sad
well guess its a learing curve and maybe will have better luck next time. anyone know how i can get around the water changes tho? cant drop water level too low or my filter doesnt work. its set on lowest setting but still needed.
gonna move male back to main tank tonight i think

I am sorry to hear that deb it's a real shame they were obviously a bit too keen this time but next time you may have more time to prepare and you never know they might be as feisty as there mam and manage to survive, when I was talking to mick about breeding fighters he advised me not to do any water changes if that helps you at all.

i didnt actually manage to do more than suck out a bit of waste with baster and add more water from other tank.
still got a few so will see what happens with those left.
i used the egg yolk mixture until i had the liquid fry stuff.
mick do you think that helped or hindered them? just so i know whether or not to use next time round

Yeah it was fluffy so couldn't really leave it. Only other choice was to use stronger filter so decided better to remove
