This is a tough one as we've all heard horror stories about the quality of livestock a P@H but its the luck of the draw, i've bought fish and had no problems then on the other hand have had some and lost them within 24 hours. I tend only to use for emergency stuff now on a weekend for food and treatments when most other places are shut and also for tank decorations.

Yeh its horrible how they will sell anything just to get money.

The people obviously havent been keeping fish for 20 years. I wonder if he even told them about cycling.

lol nuff said!! i nearly got barred for telling people to go elsewhere. its a shame though because their wholesale supplier is quite good but after a couple of weeks in their tanks the fish go down hill fast.

last time i was in there they had some discus that were so dark i couldnt work out what strain they were, oh and the were £50 each lol

I think the main problem with a retailer like this is the size of the company. I have found that the knowledge and advice differs hugely from store to store. I'm sure that a handful of them have experienced fish keepers but it's would be impossible for them to have one in every store. There is only so much they can be taught on a short course, specially if the passion for the hobby isnt there. I was given some really good advice once at skippers lane but the guy was from the York store. I've also had some terrible advice so it's really hit and miss! If this was one independent shore it would be a different story I'm sure. I only use pets at home purely for convenience now as they are open when I finish work. I take any advice with a pinch of salt.

I don't like the look of the fish in there fishtanker. Me and the biffster only go in there to buy treats for our dog.
The biffster bought a tank in there for his birthday last month which i thought was reasonabley priced.
My dog likes the deli counter, he barks at the rabbits. :lol!:

It's funny that when you go into places like that you know the novices from the experienced and that's the customers, not the staff.
