stats off the scale
Been having a few teething problems with the stats as they have been off the scale lately. I've been doing water changes every other day. I haven't done a water test but i'll do that today.
I am hoping they are coming down.

Re: stats off the scale
I did a water test today and i'm happy with the result. I tested for Nitrite and Ph as i'm using a Co2 system.
Nitrite was 5.0ppm, now it is 0.25ppm.
Ph was 6.4, now it's 7.2 and i haven't added anything to the tank.
My platies are looking a bit worse for wear but with the Nitrite depleating they should start looking better, which they are. I'll do another water change in a couple of days and everything should be ok.

how bigs the tank? if small id do daily water changes as the bacteria that deals with nitrite is slower than ammonia to develop and another nitrite bloom is possible. nitrite of 5ppm is very high. just make sure the water is well oxygenated aswell as nitrite poisoning effects the fishes breathing.

My tank is 30" x 15" x 12". I have a gravel substrate, a fluval 3+, a co2 system and plants. The temperature is between 24-25 degrees.

I've had a fish loss. I lost one of my platies. It wasn't looking good to start off with. It pepped up and was swimming around. Then when i got up in the morning and put the light on to feed the fish, i found it laid on it's side motionless. It was one of the males, so i wont be swapping any males.
