reef closed down

Post by mrsbiffster on 28/12/2011, 01:26

I'm afraid to say I've turned everything off in the micro reef tank. I noticed the big crab had died and i couldn't see any other life in there. So i turned off the filters, lights, heater and everything and I'm not going to bother starting it up again. I have not decided what to do with the living rock, but everything else will be getting used for another tank.
The micro reef was an interesting project while it lasted. We were planning on moving everything to a bigger custom made tank. But moving and setting everything up would of been a right carry on. Not enough buckets and not enough barrels of RO water and RO salt water.
If anyone is interested in keeping marines, don't be put off by this thread. It's been a learning curve for us.
A lot of work and preparation went into the micro reef setup.

marine projects are not easy by far
and i would suggest having a go to
any one but there is a lot of preparation
and planing to put it in to practice and the out lay
is not cheap mine was only a micro reef based on
a 28 ltr tank which is very small and two kg of living rock
which brings a lot of stuff in its self like critters
and you will need a clean up crew which consists
of turbo snail and hermit crabs just the living rock
and its critters and what comes in on the rock like
micro fan worms and larger fan worms and polyps
it is well worth a go but it takes a lot of time effort
and do be prepared to spend a few quid oh i its like
a form of chemistry /biology kit but it is well worth
a go but be prepared to put the time in
