pregnant guppy?

Post by timmy74 on 6/1/2012, 19:46

Hi everyone i was wondering if you can help? Ive recently bought some fish off a breeder and one of them is a guppy which looks pregnant, obviously its bellys big and its back end is black (around its hole). Trouble is ive got another im assuming male chasing it and wont leave it alone. The last time i had a pregnant guppy i just let it gave birth naturally and whatever fry lived lived. Now ive got this other guppy harassing this pregnant one will it still give birth or shall i put it in a seperate fry tank inside main tank?

Wow im confusing meself now haha. Have i actually asked a question there scratch

should be OK you could buy a breeding
trap but i find the fish some times die
from the tress of been in the breeding trap
saying that you can buy some clever clip
on ones now that have air powered water
flow

With guppies it's best to have more females than males. That way the male isn't harrassing only one female.
It sounds like the female is ready to drop.

hi

ive now got the pregnant guppy in a breeding tank (floating type where the fry goto the bottom through a plastic mesh).

Q) When guppy gives birth will they be fry or eggs?

Theres some egg/circle type things in the bottom of the trap, some clear and some yellowy/orange, any ideas?

Thanks again.

guppies give birth to live fry they look
like little pin heads and are usually the colour
of the mother or the father the baby's some
time lay on the bottom for a while then after
a while will start swimming

well the little balls/sacks whatever they are look about 2-3mm across and they look like they have a little bit of air in the top of them.
