The Best Aquatics in and around Teesside???
Hi Just wondering what aquatics are about that have a decent choice of tropical fish as most pet shops r rubbish.
The ones i visited already are:
* Peter Barrets (stockton garden centre, yarm road) - pretty good nice choice some of the staff a pretty helpful. a few plants.
*Maidenhead Aquatics (strikes, stokesley) - pretty good we bought a very nice fish tank cabnet from there decent choice of fish on par with peter barrets helpfull staff. good choice of plants.
*Teesside Koi. specialists in koi and have a lot of cichlids. not the best for other tropical fish. but still a decent shop for bits and bobs. we bough some very nice pieces of bog wood from here.
*Pet Mainia (Portrack Lane)- stockton a pets at home type of shop pretty good all round pet shop good choice of tropical fish new orders on a regular basis
*Pets at Home (teesside park, skippers lane)- the comersial pet shop decent but not great for tropical fish fill in a load of forms to buy a fish :/
*Tyne Valley- first impression was not the biggest it is in a bomb shelter i think lol, but this shop likes to have rare fish so thumbs up to that
anybody know any more could they let us know please aslong as its not too far ill have apop down tomorra and let yous know what i think
Thank Chris

try the auction at sunderland tommorow mate its on here under auctions
Re: The Best Aquatics in and around Teesside???
Sorry but peter barrets is terrible imo. Centralized filtration would never put their fish in any of my tanks without QT first. Oh and the manager there with the grey hair is a tool. Not to be mistaken with the taller grey haired man who is a lovely chap and very helpful.

I wasn't that impressed with Tropical house. There was one tank that was stocked full of juvi black angels and everyone had white spot/finrot, poss 30+. Felt really bad for the fish! Don't know if they had been brought in that way and were getting nursed back to health though so I suppose that would be a possibility.
Re: The Best Aquatics in and around Teesside???
I've been to absolute aquatics and they seem to really care for there tanks. Nice and clean all round. They are well stocked with dry goods etc but could have more fish stock. Might have been expecting a delivery though. Every fish is packaged up with an elastic band instead of tying the bag which I found much easier to undo. They also put a squirt of stress coat in to chill them out and place them into a good thick paper bag to keep the light out. Small points but its the small things that make a difference I reckon, allot of shops wouldn't bother.

Has anybody been to s&c aquatics in stanley. Its ran by Stevie Nelson who is a regular at most of the auctions and has been keeping fish for years,he realy knows his stuff. This shop is the cleanest best looked after aquatics shop i have seen in over 20 years of keepin fish.He doesnt do a lot of cichlids but gets lots of other stuff most other shops dont.He is a fountain of knowledge on most types of fish and can supply advice on just about anything fishy. He is also a nice bloke and makes a geed cup of coffee. If anybody interested the address is,High Street,Stanley,DH9 8DQ

S&C Aquatics at Stanley very good, as Enigma says very clean shop and very clean and well maintained tanks.
Steve keeps lots of unusual species all in top condition, even had Discus breeding in the shop as well as Angels. Well worth a visit.

While your up this end why not call in,
Penshaw Aquatics and Reptiles,

Penshaw.
Again nice clean shop and a good selection of freshwater tropicals, cold-water and Marine fish.
Brian the owner, is a breeder turned retail, and knows his stuff, friendly Guy, helpful and also makes good coffee.
