Guppy problem Empty Guppy problem

Post by timmy74 7/2/2012, 20:15

Hi peeps.

One of my male guppys is poorly. All the other fish seem fine. Last night the fish in question was rolling around, banging off the sides of the tank. Ten minutes later i fed my fish and it came to life and seemed fine Shocked

Tonight when ive came in the same fish seems fairly lifeless, its breathing but not doing much else. Ive put it into a small fry tank inside my main tank to see how it fairs but im not pinning my hopes on anything.

It might be a one off as the others seem fine, any ideas.

One more thing how often do people feed there fish, there seems to be no filling mine at the minute. The guy i bought the guppys off fed his twice a day on spirulana flake (i think it was called), i just feed em on food ive always used. Can anyone give advice on feeding and what i should be feeding them on, PS my fish have even been feeding on the plecs cucumber as if they hungry all the time. Any help appreciated thanks.

normal flake is good spirualina is better but also costs a fortune

a normally give one pinch of food but i gotta lot more fish now. a put two/three small pinches in last night and they were loving it. its a bit of a grey area, every fish keeper seems to do stuff different.

sounds like the guppy in question is on its last legs im afraid. dont be disheartened though as guppys are notoriously hit and miss now. they have become weaker and weaker through inbreeding.

feeding is very much upto the fish and the individual. when i had community setups i would feed flake once a day and frozen food every other. when feeding young fish i increase the frequency of feeding but make sure the meals are small. you have to remember fish will feed and feed if they have the chance as in wild environments they sometimes struggle to find food. so feed whats convenient for you and the fishes needs.

yeah i was more worried about underfeeding them, ive never seen the other fish apart from plecs eat the cucumber as much.
