oto,bn or cory
After a visit to durham discus i've decided to redo my 4 footer for my discus, but i was wondering what i could put in with them to keep the tank a bit cleaner. Have currently got otocinclus, sterbai corydoras, and super red bristlenoses and which, if any, can cope with the higher temperatures required for the discus? Am going to be having the tank at 30 degrees celsius.

stebai corys and normal b/n did the job for me kev i also have clown loach to keep the pesky snails down and they did well with the temps

Yes, I have bn and sterbai in all my discus tanks. I also have some L270 chocolate zebra plecs in Sewell as they tolerate the higher temps well. So what lovelys did you pick up from Steve in Durham?

Good to hear, you won't get any better advice on discus. As Steve says its all about good water and plenty of water changes.

I only use HMa water so I'm not too sure. Is imagine if you are using 50/50 with to you won't need to re-mineralise. But in darlo you will probably be fine to just use HMa water as its quite soft like mine I believe.

My waters quite hard coming out at a ph of 7.6 thats why i've opted for the ro unit.

Yes that's quite high. Mine comes out at 7 and drops to 6.8 after about a day. Best to ask Steve as he will advise well. Are you planning on buying young or adult fish?

Re: oto,bn or cory
well he tested a sample of my tapwater for me and he said as it stands its ok a hma filter would suffice but if i wanted to breed them i would have to go for a ro unit to get the hardness and ph down so have gone for the ro unit but hes modifying it so it can produde hma water aswell so i can have ro and hma out the same unit.
