Fluffy stuff???
Anyone know what this stuff is growing in my tank and how i can get rid of it? The fish don't mind nibbling on it but its just really ugly.

Looks a bit like a bloom of algae or something, what's your temperature like? If it's a bit high it might cause this.
I would remove the wood, scrub it in boiling water and do a 50% water change and see how it goes.

After a bit of a sidetrack from the algae site i've found out it is diatom algae more commonly found in marine tanks but not unknown in tropical set ups. Its not actually an algae though its millions of tiny creatures all linked together to form the candy floss type effect. Probable cause is silicic acid in the water which the diatom feeds on the by product of the feeding is silica. Have been looking at different cures on the web and will give some a go but will have to test my tapwater for the silicic acid otherwise the problem will keep coming back. Will let everyone know how it goes.
