L168 Butterfly Pleco

This catfish is a master of disguise. It can change colouration, chameleon-style, quickly. If kept on a black or very dark substrate is will go almost black. Kept on a lighter substrate it will show a pretty striped pattern during the day. Another reason for misidentification of this fish is that its night-time colouration is totally different from that it has during the day.

Similar to L052 but in D. brachyura the stripes are more clearly separated. The ground colour of D. brachyura is more orange when you compare them directly.

Diet Mainly vegetarian algae and veg.

Furniture Flat, rounded rocks and pieces of wood. plants shouldn't be harmed.

Haha yeah, I bought one thinking it looked as pretty as a zebra plec...i got it home and it changed colour to a cream/grey. I was livid!

they look different every time u look at them. somtimes the look like a leopard frog aswell. u still got yours?

Nope...he just sort of disappeared lol. I rarely saw him so I wasn't too concerned but then when I came to move my fish into the 5ft he was nowhere to be found.

ah yeh i remember you saying i moved mine today and found one dead dunno what happened like, got 3 left but trying to make a breeding group.
