Tank?
Hi guys
I've got a big 2ft x 2ft x 6ft tank with a fluval fx5. I have seen a few tanks were the inlet and out let come up through the glass bottom of the aquarium. I was wondering if anyone has adapted there existing tank to be able to do that? Or is there any companies out there who could adapt it for me?

I know what you mean ive seen it done but no idea who or where you could get it done....have you tried you lfs to see if they have a contact for someone to do it for you...I do know you need special tools to cut aquarium glass as normal cutters will cause the glass to shatter ...kind of explode...so beware a diy job !!...

Re: Tank?
Is it for a fish house or house tank? I know fluval have some of their tanks predrilled from the bottom and I'd only just trust these but to DIY a tank in this way and have it in my living room I don't think I would sleep lol. As for drilling it yourself you need confidence in the glass u aredrilling that it is thick enough to take it. Then find the right sort of drill bits for this and turn the speed down to its lowest till you get through. The main problem I see is getting the seals right around the holes were the filters will be entering the tank.

Re: Tank?
I would look at running a sump on a tank that size rather than filters. Aslong as the cabinet it stands on can house a sump. It adds volume to the tank aswell and can house a lot more media that a couple of externals.

Re: Tank?
just looked on youtube...seems it boils down to if your glass is tempered or not...non tempered is not that bad to drill with the right tools and if you can afford to lose the odd tank or 2 !!.....if its tempered glass then you got a whole new ball game.....then you need to weigh up if its really worth the risk....or...theres always vids of how to make your own sump tank just using pipe work..no holes need to be drilled !!

i would ask at a few lfs if they know anyone that does what you are looking for
or do the sump with no drilling required
