all my discus are approaching maturity now and last week my big male blue turq took a liking to my blue scorpion snakeskin. this week it seems he fancied a go with my tiger turq and this is what ifound this morning to find both parents tending to the eggs:

Well I had to move the wood they laid on cos the male was gonna end up killing one of my others. Then went in just now and the eggs are no more. Quite relieved to be honest, they are in a community set up and I have no space to separate them. This way they are less stressed in the long run.

Yes they can breed every week or so. I think i might try them in a small tank on there own when I move the rest to the big tank.

First time they have spawned, only just reaching maturity now as I got the at bout 3 inches in April. Female is cleaning the same bit of bogwood now aswell.

I'm not too keen on breeding them yet, I've got 6 more juvies ordered so will be growing them on and wont have the room to raise any young. Shame though as this pairing might have produced some good looking young.

will do 2morrow. from watching the behaviour i think the same male has paired with this female aswell. my golden albino is cleaning the heater aswell and has a more prominent breeding tube. im really surprised these eggs are lasting so long cos they are still in the smaller tank upstairs mick.

He's actually a blue turq but carrys a prominent blue gene hence his thick blue body. either way he's turning out to be a good shaped fish. He's definitely top of the pecking order and has grown massively since I got him at around 3 inches in April. He's not just long he's well over an inch thick. He's a good pair for any blue based turq fish so if he pairs with my tiger or blue scorpion I'm happy.

well all the original eggs are gone but as of last night i watched the blue turq and tiger turq at it again. ive noticed this time they seems to be more eggs and the female is paying more interest. im just going to leave them again though as i dont want to be raising and growing on a load of discus through the coldest time of the year. id need to have a 4footer set up fop them after 4-5 weeks at 31oC and be doing at least daily water changes. gonna wait till new year when its warmer and i can sort out a hma filter so im not going through a bottle of dechlorinator every few weeks lol

It's funny but sometimes it's best to leave fish to there own devices. I did that when the biffster gave up and i couldn't stop the fish from breeding. You will end up breeding tanks :lol!:
