DIY CO2 System for planted 200L Aquarium
I'm looking at making a DIY co2 system for my 200l aquarium. buying one for this size tank will cost about £300 (too pricey)
I pretty much know how but the problem i got is how much yeast/sugar/bi-carb/water mixture do i use for this size tank?
Can anyone help tips advice has anyone ever made one of these?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Re: DIY CO2 System for planted 200L Aquarium
there is a post about it in plants
i have a home made co2 system
up and running now i use two cups
or large handfuls of sugar to 1 ltr
of boiled cooled water mix together
sugar and water till its totally dissolved
then leave to stand for 24 hrs before adding
yeast i just use a good bread yeast shake and leave
to stand for four or five hrs after this time the mix will
foam up it is now making co2 gas i leave out the baking soda as salt kills off yeast as i have just found
out a few days ago from a master bread maker my
mum lol

Cheers mate so that mix would be ok for a 200 L aquarium?
Im looking to lower my ph a little anyway so that shouldn't be a problem.

The plants are starting to look better with the co2 and there are signs of multiplying.

it will make a bit of a mess when your reactor goes pop

Re: DIY CO2 System for planted 200L Aquarium
The pop bottle has a ridge near the base. I put the sugar up to the ridge and i topped the bottle with warm water up to a ridge half way up the bottle. The sugar has to be dissolved. So just swish the bottle around till the sugars gone. If the waters too warm, wait till it cools to lukewarm or blood temperature before you put the yeast in as the hot water kills the enzymes in the yeast and it wont ferment.
Add a packet of yeast to the water, swill it round till it mixes and wha laa the mixture is ready.

Re: DIY CO2 System for planted 200L Aquarium
My cig filter trick is doing well so far. Also when the co2 reachs the top is where the out put of my filter is so the bubbles get pushed against the glass then back down then eventually get to the top of water slowley. So. The bubbles are in double as long to give better co2
