i think this a brilliant way of sumping a tank without
drilling the tank and it give you all the same properties as a drilled tank well worth a look

Re: cheap overflow system a cheap way to sump a tank
well my next project is going to be
run on an overflow system the tank
is going to a 40x18x15 the sump is
going to be 24x12x12 all the stuff
that is normally in the tank like heater
and all that is going to be in the sump
allowing the tank just for scaping and
the inhabitants so it will look minimalist
rock work substarate and bog wood and moss

Re: cheap overflow system a cheap way to sump a tank
I was going to do this a while back doesnt cost much and you can have as much filter media etc. But then I relised a smaller tank will not fit under my tank and I cant keep it beside it or behind . That videos by uaru jonny hes got another one on what size diameter pvc to use for the amount of water that will be overflowed out every hour. He also has some other great videos

about an inch inch and a half
or somewhere around there it
also depends on the size of the
return pump working on about
2000 lph thats just a rough
idea

Get your pvc bigger than you need it, doesnt matter if its er. If you got one a little bit to small you could overflow tank and damage your pump. Also people sometimes set up 2 with a T connector incase one becomes blocked with anything
