What are the typical signs of cory's breeding.

Basically two of the new editions (thanks to mick the fish) are now hiding out in one of the temporary coconut shells I have in the tank. They dont come out for food and only ever seem to move out when the red tailed black shark makes them lol.

Are they an egg layer or do they give birth to live young? Also what are the chances of survival?

hi hodgy they are probs still settling in abit thats why they are hiding, give them time to settle abit more and u will notice the female gets rather plump, the male will start to chase her around .they are an egg layer and will lay on the glass ,plants or practically anything near vertical, survival chances in a community tank nill i'm afraid,.first signs of the female being plump put them in a smallish breeding tank and do a water change a few degress colder than tank temp and they will spawn wen u see the eggs on the glass or plants remove the adults and within a few days they shud hatch
