a new set up for my l333's

could use some help for this tank i only have 2 and have a spare 1'x6"x6" tank will this be big enough and how should it be set up i also have a spare 300lph filter will that be too much ?

only have 2 fish that is lol

and just measured the tank its 16x8x8 so bit bigger than a ithough but i still think it might be too small lol what should i do

if its just for the l33s id put them in another tank with other fish to grow them on, a tank that gets alot of water changes would be best if you want them to grow quickly. at that size as long as theres a bit of wood, good water and meat/veg foods the l333s should be happy, hey i got some alder cones u can add to lower the ph to there liking

yeah i was thinking of having them in with the b/nose for now till they get bigger and the endlers so need a total rescape of my tanks lol and so yas went and got em did yas nice one

not to rub it in or owt but we just been offered a 5x2x2ish for £50 lol imgunna go have a look tomorrow :p and its a lot closer than donny

im waiting to her back from a few people about 4 fters now but still jelouse though haha

well got a new tank today bit smaller than i expected its a 2 and a half fter but im happy dont need a massive tank anyway so will be setting this up over the next few days

would like a hand setting this up some ideas for substrate and what not.. ??

and the krib young so they can grow on

sounds like a grow out tank mate so i would just have bare bottom with a piece of bogwood and sponge filters. this way you can see how much they are cr@P1zG and be able to clean up there mess daily without missing any. u'll be suprised how much plecs cack-a-poop. this way youll keep the water as best poss and will be able to feed more you'll notice them shoot up in size

if thats a bit boring i got a bit of playsand you can put a thin layer with alder cones and bogwood?

a was thinking of puting the breeding pair of kribs in their aswell you think they would go in fine with them and if not a bare bottom would be fine especialy if it makes life easier lol

the kribs should be fine with the plecs aslong as there is enough hides for them so they dont try n get into the breeding cave

yeah thats was my first thought about them aswell i might have a rethink what this tank is for and use the litler one as the grow out tank for the plecs and b/nose for now till they are big enough them move them onto this tank haha

if your planning to ue it as a breeding tankaswell that might not be a good idea plecs will eat the eggs if they get chance. also i would avoid using a small tank for a grow out as u would needf to do water change a few times a day, the fish release a hormone into the water that stops them growing so a larger amount of water (fresh water) the quicker they will grow, thats the whole idea of the water changes, and this is why fish grow bigger in bigger tanks

well i have deicided that most of my fish will be going into this tank for the time being exept the krib young for now till they are sold then i will be using this for breeding the plecs can i do this -- have them in one tank then once ready to spawn put a pair in another tank then put them back in the first lol or just keep a pair in one tank and have them in their with young if they have some that is lol

best to leave them where they are if they spawn otherwise male kicks eggs out n gotta raise them yourself

yeah i didnt think befor i put that on just rushed it up haha and i know its abit early to be speeking of breeding these but its just so i know for the future lol

got round to sorting my new tank out and my old 2fter today their now set up full of fish well i say full hears whats going on lol
new tank - this was going to be for my new l333 and the b/nose i got off chriss and shell till they wher ready to breed but it now has my breeding pair of kribs in and all their young plus the tiger endlers 2pairs plus a few young with one about to pop so shud have a few more very soon
2ft tank - this is now going to be my breeding tank for the l333 or if i get some others in the mean time while these are still young and it also has my b/nose in till i can see if i have a female among them then i will be looking for a male so im not breeding brother and sister so to speak lol but these are just about sex able then they will be going into the new tank with some new slate caves i will be making shortly
so thats that for subtrate i have nothing at the moment lol just a peice of bogwood and plants in each tank im not sure what to use but i know i am leaving the 2ft tank bare with just some bogwood with rooted plants on it and a slate cave when i get them sorted but i want something to go in the new tank for my kribs to use in their breeding den lol so thats it for now if anyone has any ideas what i can use that will look diffrent but not daft fire away cheers

b careful the kribs dont eat your endler babies...live food for them

there yas go thats what they now look like and the light is actualy like a purle colour not blue like its come up as haha

and o the plants have moved from how i had them there not suposed to be there lol
