Constant water change system
mainly used for goldfish as the water would be cold
Basically you would be running fresh water constantly in to the tanks and removing old water via a over flow system then down to the drain the water coming in is regulated by taps on each tank so you have control of the flow into each tank and your able to stop each tanks surply individualy see illustration below to see how its done

The idea is that you only have a "drip" into each tank, enough to change about 50% of the water in 24 hours. This allows you to put put large amounts of high quality foods in fry tanks or conditioning tanks without water quality problems. The combination of lots (of the correct) food and water changes enables fry to be more densely stocked and to grow quicker without having to burn up energy to look for food and be exposed to ammonia or nitrite.

Would you plumb it in through a HMA filter system on the incoming supply? if so how would you know when the cartridges are past there best.
Looks a great idea though.

its for breeding my fancy goldfish and it saves all the water changes i have to do each day which is a bonus
Re: Constant water change system
If you place an air stone under the position of the drip feed it will gas off the chlorine, you can run it through a pre filter if you want to the cartridges will need changing when they need changing ie blocked.

Re: Constant water change system
i like the airstone idea as it will need a airstone anyway in each tank

instead of drilling holes in your tank

Re: Constant water change system
I watched the youtube vid, I think it's a bit like reinventing the wheel, it appears to be a rather clumsy way to do the job also its not able to clean out the mulm on the bottom of the tank as you can do with the centre bottom drain with the aid of a standard pop bottle. I can see that this system works but think it is over engineered and has the potential to fail.
