Just don't get caught. It is against the law to take anything from the beach or a river.

For anyone that likes a bit of beach combing, Seaton Carew is the place to be. I'm forever walking the dogs down there, they get a swim, i pick up loads of woods to see if they'll fit into my tank. If not, i give them to my dogs or my mum who says she wants to make Christmas candle holders out of them?! :silent:

not very long just to get the salt out depends on the type of wood really

I would not recommend taking anything off the beach and putting it into your tanks most wood and rock is porous and keeps all kinds of nasty things that are in our see locked into it. you could boil them to try and get rid but best not to use it might be cheap but could also be costly when you lose all your fish

You have a point there dandy, but the temptation of free rocks and driftwood outweigh the risk.
