Unfortunately mick i don't know anything about clown loaches as i haven't kept them. My idea is keep the conditions right and wait and see what happens. You might be lucky and be one of the rare breeders of clown loaches.

ive looked for info but all i got was that they have rarly been breed if ever in a tank and in the wild they breed in the fast flowing waters of the river and the eggs are washed down to slower moving parts and thats were they hatch and grow up

I read that they have to be over 7inch to breed and very rare in captivity. I have 2 in with my malawis one about 4 inch other about 5 inch looking for more if any for sale any where at sensible prices

I've seen these at auctions and they even go for silly prices there as well.

Ive seen these at 7 inch go for £90-£100.

Mine are at 4.5 and 3 inch at the moment.

Great fish to watch apart from when you 1st get them and you see em on there side not moving lmao mine gimme a cardiac cos i thought it was dead lol.

Im also after a few more of these if anyone finds em cheap anywhere.

clown loach react to the mood of other fish the tank so if a fish is a bit lively they can be or they can go into hiding mine do i have 4 in my frontosa tank at about 4"

we used to have clowns that used to float
about looking dead till you truned the light
on and some food in and they were begging
at the front of the tank

Yeah mine get on really well with my redtail shark. they do laps of the tank side by side(and when i say side by side i mean it) they look stuck together even when they turn Smile

clowns are hilarious! mine like to float upside down and fool me into thinking they dead. they know once they have got me over to the tank they are more likely to get food or veg of some kind.
its so funny-i have some of those food tablet you stick onto the aquarium glass and you should see them! they try to get it off the glass so they can hide it so they dont have to share with other fish.
if ever i add a frozen bloodworm cube to the tank its like watching rugby as they pass it between each other and keep it away from the swordtails!
