that will more than likely be the problem if it does have carbon in start treatment again then that will sort it

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
Well filter def does not have carbon in it.
It did however have a Khuli loach living happily in there.
Back to the drawing board...

It must be something completely different than what you are treating for so what symptoms do the fish have?

None that I can tell. The only one who showed anything was red male. They just die. Nothing I can see on bodies

Lost another neon over night but nothing today.
Numbers have increased due to finding the khulie in the external filter!
Continued treatment do will give it few more days. Had morons long time. No more guppies lost at least
Not seen anything like slime tho

Let's just hope that is the last of the losses as I really don't know what else to say all you can do is to keep treating really which is what you are already doing anyway, just out of interest what did you have in your external filter?

Oh well I suppose that's a bonus but it still doesn't explain what on earth is happening at the moment I am stumped.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
No that's very true those treatments will kill a lot of different diseases and you have no carbon in your filter and your water is fine I am at a total loss cannot understand it at all, just keep on doing what you are doing and maybe give colin another ring just in case he can suggest something different.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
well still going well, no more losses yet.
am gonna have to do a water change on the fry tank this week tho.
i cleaned the filter media but hasnt helped much.
ill just a do a partial but i also need to clean the net the fry are in as its starting to go green. id like to move them into the clear floating tank as then we can see them rather than having to lift the lid and peer in. any thoughts/ advice about doing this?
i know mick said a month before water changes but its starting to smell and am concerned this will hurt them more than the change would.
i wont be using water from my main tank due to recent issues lol!

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
Glad to hear you have no more losses it's starting to sound like you might have it cracked, I wouldn't mess about with the fry just yet I know you are worrying about the smell but if you start messing around with them it could do more harm than good.

Re: day 1 of breeding siamese...
well decided to bring the subject back to the title above!
breeding bettas!
today i decided to change the net floating tank my betta fry are in (within my fry tank thank god!) its was going a really funny colour and was the cause of the smell in tank.
so i have now moved them from net to a plastic traditional floater. bonus is that I can see them much easier.
i had to ever so carefully catch them and ease them into new floating tank whilst never letting them leave the water lol!
the good news is that i thought i might have at best 5 or 6 fry.
no i have 9 or 10!!!
woohoo!
